Classes in Oregon on Explosive Safety. These are two-day classes, which give the beginner a good basic background on safe handling, transportation, storage and use of high explosives. On the first day students are taken through the ATF-Explosives Law and Regulations manual (ATF P 54007. 6/90 ). The second day is a hands-on class which takes place at one of our hard rock mines where the student is able to demonstrate the safe use of the explosives which he has spent the previous day learning about. Under close supervision each student will exercise the proper method of blasting hard rock, using detcord/prima-cord on logs, using cord to detonate other high explosives, electrical firing of explosives, non-electrical firing of explosives, the proper use of shaped charges, C-4 boosters, and many other aspects of the industry with a strong emphasis on hard rock mining and contractor rock blasting.
