At The Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. we believe safety begins with the individual. A career law enforcement officer, Director Marty Hayes knows that the police can't protect you. YOU alone must be able to protect yourself if you expect to survive an assault on your life or the lives of your loved ones. The quality of instruction at any self-defense school and the students' resultant skill level, depends on the qualifications, background, experience and teaching skills of the instructors. Since 1987, Marty Hayes has devoted his efforts to teaching firearms safety, competency and survival skills, with the F.A.S. staff teaching thousands of Pacific Northwest citizens and law enforcement professionals the most current, effective and proven life saving skills possible. Our instructors are all certified law enforcement instructors, graduates of the Lethal Force Institute, and are cross-certified to teach in various disciplines. In addition to FAS classes, we host guest instructors who are among the top instructors in the world, in order to expand your training opportunities. A training environment that enables the student to maximize his or her training hours is of great importance. Real world dangers present themselves in a 360-degree panorama -- not only the down-range orientation of the common firing range training venue. At F.A.S. we move the student into less-static training drills as early in the curriculum as it is safe and productive to do so. In 1994 F.A.S. purchased land halfway between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA, creating the FAS Tactical Training Range, to combine efficiency and realistic challenges for the very best training possible. It is specifically designed to accommodate training for the 360-degree world, with a dark-house for low light training during daylight hours, building mock-ups, reaction targets and more. Our primary facility, it is located 1 1/2 hours north of Portland, OR or 2 hours south of Seattle, WA.

American Firearms Training and Tactics

American Firearms Training and Tactics (A.F.T.T.) is a professional small arms training source equaled by few surpassed by none. A.F.T.T. uses the best techniques from around the world and combines them into a comprehensive training system that allows maximum results in a minimum of time and, best of all, at an affordable cost. The A.F.T.T. staff of instructors will come to your facility, thereby reducing your training cost and saving hundreds of man-hours sending students out-of-town. We offer our system approach of training for all types of small arms: handguns, shotguns, rifles, precision rifles, and sub-machine guns, which, when used with proper tactics for the given weapon, allows our students to control their immediate environment, reducing the need to use deadly force. Confrontation management is emphasized.

TacTrain

TacTrain Skill at Arms Development was founded in 1996 to serve citizen civilians, military, security, and personal protection professionals in the Phoenix, Arizona area. TacTrain offers most of our courses on the weekends at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility, located in north Phoenix and other nearby undisclosed wilderness locations of the Black Mountains, Bradshaw Mountains and Wickenburg Mountains areas in the Sonoran Desert. They are inexpensive, convenient and require minimum travel for local residents. We also encourage students to attend training provided by any of the many quality schools, both local and across the United States. We feel, what we have to offer blends in harmony with other trainers and instructors and we do not view any quality school or instructor as competition, but rather as strengthening an industry and our nation. Our focus is assisting students to develop proven fighting skills useful in their defense, recognizing the best defense is a superior offense. We stress the importance of combat readiness, combat mindset, accuracy, speed and the will necessary to win, that is paramount to succeed in battle. TacTrain is a fighting school, providing the stimulus for students to develop skills using various lethal tools from handguns, carbines, rifles and shotguns, to knives, and other types of lethal tools, while developing the most power weapon known to man kind, the human mind. Beyond the physical tactical reactions are thought processed strategic responses for the real world of mortal combat.
